Centralized Process Data Collection for Fertilizer Complex, Aqaba
The JPMC Fertilizer complex at Aqaba houses seven different chemical and fertilizer plants. As part of a new enterprise project, the Fertilizer Complex in Aqaba was required to collect process related data from all seven plants into a centralized location to be accessible by the new enterprise software from the headquarters in Amman.
Technology Integration was commissioned on four of the seven plants to ready them according to the requirements. We worked on the following plants :
Ammonia Facility.
DAP Plant.
Aluminum Florid Plant.
Sulfuric Acid Plant.
In each plant, the level of automation had to be raised as to allow connection to the central server at the complex. For example, work done for the Aluminum Florid Plant had to integrate processes controlled by systems from the following vendors :-
Honeywell DCS 9100 one system.
Modicon 584.
200 I/O points off a conventional control panel.
All above systems had to be connected to one local workstation; each interfaced using a different protocol. Once all relative data was collected, it was then sent to centralized server and from there to Amman office.
Work on all four locations included integration of systems form a wide range of vendors, including :-
Conventional Control Panel, including stand alone controllers.
